The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the Walking the RED Path project, addressing HIV and HCV among Indigenous women in federal correctional facilities in Canada. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for project management and implementation, and evaluation.
The NWAC Senior Project Manager-Walking the RED Path will:
Prepare monthly reports to the Executive Director.
Provide guidance and oversight during the project lifecycle, from development to delivery, ensuring milestones are properly defined and achieved.
Document deliverables, schedules, and other necessary information providing progress reports as required.
Liaise with all relevant project organizational departments and partners in order to plan and execute the project.
Participate in designing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating the results of the project.
Monitor project resources.
Coordinate activities of project team by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly.
Lead the project team by reviewing job contributions, reviewing compensation actions and enforcing policies and procedures.
Ensure that applicable project management practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensures financial objectives met by forecasting, preparation of annual budget, and analyzing variances.
Assist in completion of project activities.
Travel to project locations when required.
Undergraduate degree in health sciences, social sciences, or related studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master’s degree is an asset.
Ability to write in both plain language and academic styles.
Ability to work in and lead a team; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to carry out culturally-relevant gender-based analysis (training will be provided).
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure.
Ability to conduct research in cooperation and consultation with community members and project partners.
Knowledge and experience with budgets, managing program risks, and implementation.
Full comprehension, knowledge, and experience with Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with data analysis software.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Will be required to successfully complete and maintain a Police Security Check, and security clearances required for entry into correctional institutions.
Minimum five years’ experience working in the areas of Indigenous women’s health, social programs, or correctional services.
Experience in project implementation and evaluation.
Experience supervising and managing staff.
Knowledge of the Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) and a commitment to the principles, values, and mandate of NWAC.
Some knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples in Canada’s cultures, histories, and traditions.
Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues facing Indigenous peoples in Canada particularly issues surrounding Indigenous women’s health, and Indigenous women and the correctional system.
Knowledge of HIV, HCV, and other STBBIs in Canada.
Familiarity and understanding of the social determinants of health;
Bilingualism is an asset.
